Lynne Viti
I am a poet, fiction and nonfiction writer. I have published one full-length poetry collection, Dancing at Lake Montebello (Apprentice House Press 2020), and two poetry chapbooks, Baltimore Girls (2017) and The Glamorganshire Bible (2018), from Finishing Line Press. My second full-length collection, The Walk to Cefalù is forthcoming from Cornerstone/Portage Press in September 202. My poetry, nonfiction and fiction have appeared in over 150 journals and anthologies, including The Wire: Urban Decay and American Television, The Baltimore Sun, Welcome to the Neighborhood, Bad Hombres& Nasty Women, Baltimore Anthology (forthcoming 2022)and Callinectes Sapidus
My writing draws on a variety of sources—family, the natural world both in and near Boston and on Cape Cod, current events, politics, movies, television and religion. I have participated since 2017 in the Old Frog Pond & Studio Plein Air Poetry project in Harvard, Massachusetts, and since 2020, in the Falmouth Community Television’s monthly Virtual Poetic License. A lecturer emerita in the Writing Program at Wellesley College, I currently lead a weekly poetry workshop and teach courses in Boston area public libraries, community centers, and senior centers.
I am devoted to bringing poetry to all kinds of people, from the novice readers to those who have devoted decades to reading and enjoying poetry. I enjoy participating in open mics and public readings, and use all forms of media to spread the gospel of poetry.
